View Full Version : Bandsaw Now In Action
Just posted a bit more in my blog on the Tender Behind builds. There's a photo of the ramp I built for handling the weight of the saw when putting it out of harm's way each night and a few of the bandsaw setup.
It's been a lot of fun getting the old Mk 1 eyeball back in form. And I actually got quite a lot done today - for a change.
Best wishes

Hi mike , bandsaw is something l could do with . l will let you do abit then come for that coffee and chat. lol! seriously pleased you are cracking on with it. The last two weeks have been maniac, got a nice job locally to build frame and windows for a cottage up the road which was nice . Token had some work done by karl and helen . l was there on thurs , still chaulking reakon one more day required. but, just found a soft spot in the electrical room only about 12in but must be sorted , aparted from that she has a sealed hull , and decks .. my 2week back in the water would have happened if l hadnt needed to earn some cash!!!! blinking bills are a pain lol. the drydock fee is the same as on a mooring , so l am not going to rush . easier to get things done out of the water. its just l feel she needs to go back soon . regards phil

No problem, as I said. I am still trying to sort out a 'lead' problem with it. The blade that came with it was rubbish, so I installed one from Axminster which is much better. The darned thing was very badly set up when it arrived, so I am still playing around with it. Cutting out panels is no problem because I don't need the fence. But ripping with a fence is not yet possible until I sort out the tracking issue. I will have a fiddle with it again today as I need to do some ripping soon and I prefer to use the bandsaw - less waste in sawdust, of course.
Good news on the job you've got. Keeping the baccy money flowing is important. Big boats are defined as 'holes in the water through which to pour your money'. And I don't know of anyone who actually got rich from making, or even repairing, them. Ha ha. It's a love thing, isn't it?
Yes, it is great to be making sawdust again. It's been a while and I am certainly a bit rusty. But the eye is coming back and the feel for it is still there. Just I am a bit older and less active than the last time I did it. As I have said elsewhere, I am like the Tortoise and I do get there in the end. Speed is not important to me. Getting it right is uppermost in my mind.
Anyway, look forward to meeting you when you come around. Let me know when you plan to make the trip and I'll put the kettle on and get Jeannette to 'bake a cake'. Heh heh.
Kind regards
