I had the last week off and I (myself and the dogs) spent it at the island (cottage), while there I spent my time when not fixing the dock, replacing rotted wood, cooking, casting a line and catching the same bass three times (it got to the point where Jake my bigger dog, was telling me it was on the line again), I was reading a book by Robb White a boat builder (How to Build a Tin Canoe). He was from Georgia, and was a jack of all trades including boat building for which he is most known, he was also a conservationist, a mechanic, a lumber worker, tug boat crewman and a writer.

He died in 2006, and his sister put together all his manuscripts and published them in "Flotsam and Jetsam", I haven't stopped laughing and thinking about that book since. The book is also an insite into life and the land in South/East USA. Good read.

Sounds like this Robb White fella was a bit of an eccentric, Clip. Mind you, much the same might be said about me. Must say I do like the type of book written by someone who calls a spade a spade, particularly when it's spiced up with a truly sarcastic, scything, type of humour.

I think I have reached an age when the phrase 'Grumpy Old Man' fits me like a glove. Not a problem, though. I am comfortable with that. It's far better than being an angry young man, I feel. Seems to me difficult in the present time to avoid being either angry or grumpy.

Anyway, I checked to see if his 'Flotsam and Jetsam' was available to order here in the UK and it is not, just yet. Hopefully, it will become available some time soon. I will order a copy. :approval:

Best wishes
