I just thought that some of you guys might be interested in a few pics from work.

A new 15 metre catamaran is beginning here, The white lines are painted on the ground and then laser levels lay out where the first pieces lie. Then all the aluminium precut shapes are welded into place.

Whilst another one beside is just coming to life.

And here is some of my handy work :JC_cheesy:

Everything in a certain area (i.e. generator space, stowage space, engine space) has it's own joint box. A multicore cable comes from underneath the control desk in the wheelhouse to feed the box and then all the local stuff like the float switches, bilge pumps, lighting etc is wired from that box.

All the multicores are wired to terminal rails and when the control panels arrive (they are made in the workshop/hq in southampton) they come with leads hanging that will connect to the other side of the rails.

Each boat has 2 jets with 2 engines. Differing sizes depending on the spec.

It's just getting interesting now as the boat that i've been working on is coming to life. Once the next boat is fully built up, this one will go out onto the water where we'll do the finishing touches. So far, so good. I'm just getting into now and really enjoying learning how it all goes together.

Great pics, Paul. Thanks for showing us what you are up to. I rather like the jets too.

My brother in Oz has a jet boat. Thought you might find it interesting, so here are a couple of photos of him in his Sea-Doo. Just click on the thumbs for a closer look. She is apparently capable of 60 mph, twin jets as you can see.

These photos are taken at the bottom of his garden in Surfer's Paradise, Queensland. He is a very successful architect, specialising mainly in hotels and resort complexes. I envy him the convenience of having his own berth in the back yard, though I am not really into plastic stinkboats, as you know.

Best wishes

that's a nice looking boat. there's one similar to that on a driveway in seaview here on the island. that's a seadoo. it looks the same but in green instead of the red. i'd love to have a jetty at the bottom of the garden. that would be good.

It's a toy really, Paul. Murray uses it for joyriding and for towing the kids when they want to ski behind her. He works really hard so he is entitled to play hard too. I think Sea-Doos are sold all over the world so I'm not surprised there's one on the Island. There are a few different models, I understand, though they vary only in size. Like I said, not my cuppa tea.

He plans to buy a yacht when he retires and sail the Med with his gorgeous better half. We have a plan to meet up around the Greek Islands. Should be a lot of fun. He's a really nice guy and a lot of fun.

By the way, what happened to your avatar? Like the new one - a lot. I wonder where you found that? :D
